In my opinion, I don't think you should ever change a queer character to make them straight. It doesn't matter how it effects their character, it erases representation. Most "straight" characters haven't been explicitly said that they are straight. It's more just people assuming that if it hasn't been explicitly said.

i think, unless the sexuality is explicitly stated, you can make characters sexualities whatever! but if they canonically show attraction to a gender, you can’t erase it. i usually headcanon non-confirmed sexuality characters as bi automatically!

In my opinion keep the character as it is. If they’re white keep em white if they’re Asian keep em Asian if they’re gay keep em gay if they don’t like anyone (and it’s been said out loud) keep em single if they’re cannonly ugly keep em ugly if they’re cannon perv keep em as that
