I started thinking about it like training dogs (I know I’m going to hell, thanks) and it’s a game changer

The concept for adults to understand that children just don’t automatically know and understand something is the whole point! We model and teach good behavior.

Thank you for this!!! It’s SO simple but needs consistency and reinforcement. Crazy to me that parents don’t do this

My 2 year old has been consistently saying please and thank you since she could talk purely bc we say please and thank you to her. We've never told her to but modeling behavior is so important!

100%!! I love how you said “we don’t get anything unless we are asking the right way” I’m a student teacher, qualified TA I’m Audhd and my son is Audhd. Yes we have challenges but he is the most respectful young man. Everyone complements me on his manners!

Was told recently at a restaurant by our waitress that my 3 kids were so well behaved I said really? She said yes you’d be shocked how many kids don’t say a single word to me. Yours have used their manors the whole time 🙌🏻

The fact that this isn’t the standard for parenting?? Blows me away. Why are people not teaching manners in this way?

👏👏👏 I would always say "Thank you, Mama" when doing something for my son since he was at least 9 months old. He's 2 1/2 now and automatically says it (most of the time 😉).

yes yes yes!! literally don’t hand or do anything for my child until she asks the proper way. teach kids to use their words to express all emotions and now she knows how to say when she’s upset, nervous, sleepy etc

Oh yeah girl. My 16 m/o says “pees tanktu momma/dada” when she wants something. It takes modeling and consistency!!

My two year old still signs please when he says it! Starting that expectation early makes it just part of their personality.

I see people get SO mad at their toddler when they come across as "rude". all you are modelling is anger... you just have to repeat back what you want them to say and they will learn 😭

I seriously wish everyone on earth followed you. Not enough people are discussing this stuff & sharing these tools. It’s much simpler than people think & it’s what makes kids kind & respectful.

My three year old will say “may I please have ____” because I do the same! They have to ask kindly and be polite to the people around them.

people think im crazy when they see me do this, but then make the comments how my kids are well mannered. yeah because I give them the tools and expectations of how to behave. they need structure to function and they are better off for it.
