@lets.be.bilingual: Learning Japanese Kanji with PICTURES! Looking at these six Japanese Kanji: 日、木、人、月、川、山 you would normally have no idea what any of them mean. But using pictographs, we can decipher their meanings! 日 (Hi) meaning "sun" looks like the sun if you draw some rays surrounding it, 木 (Ki) meaning "tree" looks like a tree if you draw some leaves on it, 人 (Hito) meaning "person" looks like a person if you give it a head and arms, 川 (Kawa) meaning "river" looks like a river if you add some water, and 山 (Yama) meaning "mountain" looks like a mountain if you add some rocks! 月 (Tsuki) meaning "moon" doesn't look anthing like a moon but if you replace 日 (Hi) meaning "sun" with it, then you have your moon!
