@killerbeeguy: Studies from Latin America show that Africanized honey bees can reach enormous densities (on the order of a trillion colonies across their full range, consuming tens of billions of kilograms of nectar annually), and they can monopolize many plant–pollinator interactions in community network analyses. That supports the idea that, among social bees or among Apis specifically, they can constitute the overwhelming majority of biomass and foraging pressure in invaded landscapes.
