@alyhealingoutloud: Hagar’s story reminds me that God shows up for the ones who feel used, discarded, and forgotten too. Most people think Hagar is just a side character to Sarah and Abraham’s story… but she is so much more than that. Besides eve, God is the first woman in the Bible that God appears to. God met Hagar in the wilderness, spoke directly to her, and called her by name! This broken, lonely, scared, woman… He saw her and He came down to comfort her… She responded by naming Him El Roi — “the God who sees me”. If you’ve ever felt betrayed or you’ve ever been blamed for choas you didn’t create. If you’ve ever been told to leave, to be quiet, or to survive alone… God sees you! He sees you in the confusion. He sees you in the grief. He sees you in the place where you thought no one was looking. And the same God who met Hagar in the wilderness still meets us there today. You are not unseen. You are not forgotten. And your story is not over. God is making a way for you, just like He did for Hagar.
