i’ll take it a step further; local artists should be the ones performing. Why are we using our Prides as music festivals for big names? We should be putting the spotlight on US not names who already get booked for big gigs

Also, in what way is Raye a gay icon? As far as I know (and please do correct me if I'm wrong, I'd love to be wrong about this), she hasn't been campaigning for trans rights against the bathroom bam or denouncing JK Rowling etc. The straight women who are legitimately "gay icons" are women who have risked their careers to speak up for gay rights even at times when it was actively damaging to their images (Cher and Princess Diana during the AIDS crisis, Judy Garland in the 50s etc.) It's not enough to just be able to write a catchy tune and not actively be repulsed by us. Otherwise straight artists are just profiting off us without speaking up for our rights. But what do I know, I'm just a lesbian, our opinions don't count!

I agree with you, I love a lot of queer female artists, it's such a shame to see that so many other gay/queer men? can't see that queer women are and have always been a big part of our community like do they not know our history?! x

theres a difference between gay ICONS and icons for gay people (for as in support). Gay icons can be icons for gay people but not all icons for gay people are gay icons 🌸

I absolutely adore Raye, genuinely one of my favourite artists, but I would love to see a queer woman as the headline. Raye can be there and perform if she wants but let's give queer artists the airspace they deserve
