Guys this is shellac. It’s a substance made from insects, it’s what makes beetle carapaces shiny. It’s been used in many products historically from jewelry and art supplies to candies. Plastic doesn’t melt or flow in this way and I’m surprised nobody recognizes that. Lakh bracelets are very traditional and I believe are good luck or something too to wear a few together at a time.

These bangles are made from lac, a resin like secretion from lac insects, it’s usually found on trees, the lac is then melted and dyed and made into bangles, it’s a age old traditional craft practice in parts of India
