@investordna: Most retirement advice assumes there’s a spouse in the picture. Two tax returns. Income splitting. RRIF rollovers. Two OAS thresholds. So if retirement feels a little heavier when it’s just you, that makes sense. Not because you did anything wrong, but because when you’re single, the math changes. #RetirementPlanning #SingleRetiree #CanadaFinance #CPP #OAS
It will work out because I die the day the money runs out

Love that you’re talking about being single and retirement. I haven’t seen a lot about that.

this is why I'm semi-retiring at 55 drawing down my rrsps before taking CPP and OAS. literally makes no sense for me to work full time anymore as a single person.

I’ll be retiring in maybe 3 years at 67. I’m single. I’ve never met with a retirement planner. But I’d like to. How do I choose someone who is competant? Where do I find someone?

Great message should also touch on the fact that they may want to delay their CPP or their OAS if they have a massive RRSP that needs to be De registered

Thx for this. I’m still 14 yrs away from retirement as a single person. Right now I have a bit of money to invest bf march 1. I was thinking of rrsp but perhaps my TFSA would be better as I’ll have more flexibility there.

The government should allow RRSP to be transferred to your children especially if you are a single parent
