This hits my soul hard!! I was about 8 or 9 when my mama said to me "I've tried so hard to love you but I just can't " When my daddy and her got their divorce she stated she had only one child (my brother) I was grown then but to know that the person who gave birth to you had always felt that way 💔 I spent my whole life doubting I was worthy of love until 14 years ago when I met the man I've been married to for 12 years showed me I am worthy. He help fix and put back the broken pieces he had no part in breaking. 🥰♥️

This song has spoken to me since I first heard it. My 19 year old left home as fast as they could. They blocked us for all social media. They are still in contact but its at arms length & superficial at best. I envision them singing this to me. But I just want to respond back that I do care, with everything I am & wonder every day what I can do to make them believe it. They were never someone I was supposed to love. From birth they'd captured my heart. I can only keep the door open but I know in my heart I'd be there in a heartbeat if I ever felt they needed me. I'm also just so terrified if I push to hard they'll push me further away, or worse, just stop contact. I miss my child. Every. Single. Damn. Day. But, they are living their best life, are happy, doing amazing & I hold onto that. Its the only peace I have.

Lauren.. It’s like you wrote this song for me to send to my dad.. Since him and my mom divorced when I was 5, he’s wanted nothing to do with me. Never tried to contact me, doesn’t text or call or birthdays or anything like that.. The sad part is that he has two other sons and gives them the world. I’ve never asked him for anything but a relationship and I get ignored. granted, my mom is the best mom in the world for never leaving me and playing both mom and dad, but I still don’t have any answers. I have cried to this all morning and playing it on repeat. I just want to thank you for singing the words I’m too scared to say to him.
