As an Indonesian, I was so excited to visit Chongqing, China’s chili heaven. But turns out I was disappointed cuz not even a single sweat came out of my forehead the entire trip, even if it was late spring 😔

To grow chillies you need a climate where the temperature is over 20 degrees C, which is why cuisines from around the equator use lots of chillies, they simply grow there all year round. Which is why there is the rule, the closer to the equator the better the cuisine because they have access to fresh ingredients all year round and the further from the equator the worse the cuisine’s becomes.

This maps makes no sense. How can more chilli be used in Spain than the UK when it's hard to even buy fresh chillies in Spain? It's pretty much impossible to find a spicy dish in any restaurant, even if you go to an Indian or Thai place
