Dirt Dobber is interesting. In Michigan we call them Mud Dobbers. Lots of problems with them. Even plugging up electric plug. Can not plug in a extension cord.

I always put a cheap plastic fuel filter on all my vents and it eliminates this problem

They make a piece that goes on the end of that hose that works like a check valve to keep stuff out of the hose and still allow it to relieve pressure

When I was a young fella I blew a rear end gasket traveling from Montana to Texas, had it replaced in Nevada, and by the time I got to Texas it was leaking again. The culprit was a plugged vent line.

I had some build a nest in the key switch on my lawnmower. Never would have thought it a possibility. Had to clear it so I could mow my grass

I had a Toyota Camry that you couldn’t put gas in the tank unless it was just a trickle. It had a carbon box connected to gas tank to collect gas fumes. I was going to change it and found a dirt dauber had built inside the little vent. Problem solved.

I've seen them get into outboard boat motors where the water is supposed to come out (pee holes) and toast the water pump due to restriction.

I had a ‘01 f150 once that blew the rear axle seals. Couldn’t figure how it blew both at the same time. I found a ripped vent tube and the hole going into the axle was clogged. Cleaned it out, replaced the tube and never had another issue.

1993 Ford. explorer xlt did this … broken vacuum line , caused it to run in 4th all the time it never had passing gear either. It would over-pressurize and blow out the vent
