@allypeterson__: Some of my favourite travel days aren’t the big, flashy ones… they’re the quiet, human ones like this 🥲🤍 Today we visited a traditional weaving village in Lombok and sat with the women while they worked their looms by hand. Thread by thread. Row by row. No rush. No machines. Just skill and patience passed down through generations 🧵✨ They spin the cotton themselves… weave everything manually… and sit here for 7–8 hours a day, every day creating these pieces. Which take can take an entire month to finish 😳 The bigger ones? MULTIPLE MONTHS for one piece. I'll watch what I complain about after hearing that 😂 We even got to have a go ourselves (way harder than it looks btw) and it gave me so much respect for the craftsmanship. My brain couldn’t even keep up with the pattern they do so effortlessly. Afterwards we wandered through their little shop and seeing the fabrics hit different… because now we knew the time, the hands, the stories behind every single one 🥲 This is why I love travelling with the kids. Not just to see places… but to understand people 🫶🏼 Slow culture days > everything ✨ #CapCut
Did you get to walk inside one of the elder’s homes? Amazing how old the village is. Got a lovely weaved tablecloth too. Always enjoy learning about the Sasak culture.
