@holidaywithfran: Here’s my recommended 3 week route of Mexico 🇲🇽 You could squeeze this into 2 weeks and take out Merida & Bacalar. It’s worth noting that the distances between places are far, so if you’re tight on time it’s likely you’ll need an internal flight or two. If you’re not under time pressures - overnight busses are an option and there are plenty of companies to choose from (e.g ADO). If you only have 7-10 days I’d recommend picking one side of the county and sticking to that area e.g CDMX, Oaxaca & Puerto Escondido (option A) or Valladolid & Holbox (Yucatan & Quintana Roo - option B). Travel between places in Mexico: For my trip I took a 7 hour bus from Mexico City (CDMX), to Oaxaca, a 3 hour bus to Puerto Escondido, and from there I flew to Merida (flight went via CDMX), I then got a 2.5 hour bus to Valladolid, and from there I got a bus and a boat to Holbox (approx. 3 hours), from here I got a boat & 7 hour bus to Bacalar 🚎 As a solo woman I avoided overnight buses but otherwise the buses along the tourist routes feel safe - with air con and very loud Spanish TV to keep you entertained! #mexico🇲🇽 #itinerary #traveltips #centralamerica #solotravelwoman
