@doctor_hanson: EDIT Yes I know synthetic THC is not the same as Delta_8. I meant “or” not “aka” —— Things I wouldn’t do as a psychiatrist, part 2 #MentalHealth #psychiatrist #therapy
I had a patient who unknowingly did spice one time at a party and she was in the psych unit after eating all of her toenails off. She never fully recovered and had to be institutionalized at 40. Still one of the Saddest things I’ve seen in practice.

As a Psych nurse, the amount of teenagers we see in the hospital due to this, is alarming. I hope more people know this!

I’ve cared for med student who tried it once. He’s no longer in medical school because of it. It’s horrible.

I did it in 2009 ONE TIME, my arms felt like they were toy arms, plastic like. Never touched that again.

It sounds like a cannabinoid that has irreversible binding affinity to the cannabinoid receptors

Why I stay away from it. Weeks of this like derealization type feeling. Idk how to describe it.

I have seen patients on our unit (inpatient psych RN) with psychosis due to this. The level of psychosis is some of the worst I have seen.

Took it once. Had VERY VERY intrusive thoughts that were so bad that I almost called 911 bc I was so scared I would act out the thoughts. I had to keep redirecting my brain to different thoughts. I’d never experienced anything like that before.

I mean I can’t fathom how bad can it be if you are calling a psychosis “very bizarre”

I had a patient, 19 yrs old, tried spice and had psychosis that didn’t respond to any meds. Stabilized enough to dc and then he was back shortly thereafter with psychosis again. He’s never been the same, behaves like someone with a TBI.

My husband works in a psych hospital he said it’s the saddest thing he’s ever seen devastating families. I had no idea! Why aren’t we educating kids more on this

My kids still laugh at me because I took a gummy while home alone and had to call 911. So embarrassing, but the police, fire and EMT (yes they ALL came 🙄🤦🏼♀️) told me they get these calls all the time. I thought I was dying. Also thought someone was in the bed with me.

Had it for the last time in 2022. The extreme anxiety, shadow people, and constant Déjà vu for about a year. Still experience Déjà vu to the point of panicking till today.
