These comments are definitely coming from people who have not experienced -30 to -50° here in the Midwest. A heater in the water in the winter is an absolute necessity. When the weather gets that cold, the entire tank would be completely frozen, and there would be water at all just ice. So I don’t understand how people think that you can just go and break ice when the whole thing would freeze solid.
