@cbsla: The Los Angeles city staff installed solar-powered lights in Lincoln Heights and Cypress Park to keep the neighborhoods bright and prevent copper wire theft. The push comes from Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez, who represents the area. She invested $500,000 from her discretionary fund for the new lights. CBS News California Investigates obtained and analyzed city data and found that more than 37,000 streetlight repair requests were submitted by the fall of last year. More than half were still waiting for service.
I submitted a street light repair request on the 311 app and they said it might take up to 270 days for repair...are you kidding me? way to go Bass

I live in Boyle Heights and we've had issues with broken lighting. I've taken it upon myself to submit light repair requests throughout the neighborhood. It took 3 months but it got done. Unfortunately, many residents in neighborhoods like Boyle Heights, don't bother to submit complaints, suggestions or concerns. The resources are out there but many don't utilize it. We get tons of mailers that list free city services that are offered but many ppl don't take advantage or simply don't care. This is the difference that I see between my neighborhood of Boyle Heights and my partner's neighborhood of Eagle Rock. Many Eagle Rock residents are INVOLVED and loud when it comes to these things. I understand that this is not the only reason things don't get done but it absolutely helps when several neighborhood residents rally behind the change they want and need.

can we talk about how we pay taxes to repair our streets and the roads are so messed up with holes everywhere and cracks that mess with tires. We pay a gas tax thats supposed to address this and streets are never fixed and look like a third world country roads

my street lights have been fine, they replaced them with these, I was worried they’d be ugly and brighter, they are OK but definitely uglier during the day. I don’t think it was actually necessary for our area but whatever

Where are my tax dollars going? Fix the streets too. We need a new mayor and new city council members. LA City is horribly mismanaged.
