maybe it was different bk then but most of Chicago is brick. fires do jump house to house. my uncles roof caught fire at least 3x wen I was young. the crazy part is I dont remember my cousins ever being outside with us while they roof was on fire. that must have been how confident they house wouldn't go up just the shingles if they didn't get the people out. 1 was literally right next door & the other 2 were 2 houses over
