You’re bound to see this floating around on IG this Lunar New Year Period so here’s what’s going on 🙋🏻‍♀️ This is largely a Malaysian and Singaporean Chinese New Year tradition where you aggressively throw a perfectly good salad into the air in the name of luck and abundance. The rules are simple: toss it high to invite higher prosperity, success and good fortune for the year ahead. Every ingredient is there for a reason (derr) symbolising things like long life, wealth, balance and happiness - def not a random fridge salad moment. It is loud, communal, a little chaotic and very intentional, and once the tossing (and yelling) is done - you eat/inhale it because it’s actually a pretty good salad. ALRIGHT CLASS.
