@china.chemicals: Episode 25. Magic Chemicals This is a chemistry experiment video demonstrating the alcohol precipitation phenomenon that occurs when a saturated copper sulfate solution is mixed with anhydrous ethanol. First, a test tube contains a saturated copper sulfate solution (blue), then anhydrous ethanol is added. Because the solubility of copper sulfate in ethanol is much lower than in water, a solid precipitates out after mixing. After standing for a while, needle-like copper sulfate crystals appear in the test tube, creating a visual effect similar to "snowfall"—this is the so-called "alcohol precipitation effect." #chemistryfun #chemistry #diychemistry #chemistrylab
