A220 is 5min, and we landed at airport where it took about 2min to get to the gate, so we sat there off the gate until the timer hit 5. this was the P&W engine with the bearing concern. Future is 2min

Just like all turbocharged gasoline or diesel engines. need to slow tye turbocharger down and stabilize the exhaust temperatures as you dont want the engine oil to bake on tge turbocharger bearings

A350 mechanic here.. keep being that pilot with knowledge. It’s appreciated. For the life of me I don’t understand why pilots with a short taxi time roll to the gate and fall short of the stop line and give so much power to move up..and shut down before the engines even have a chance to stabilize to idle. Any input on that?

When some parts very hot they actually expand/grow. The cooling gets the back to normal temps so as to not possible a turbine blade scrap the outer case I heard.
