i think what really made it uncanny was that, most of these fake simulated worlds in games have the characters being really supportive and reassuring. The way Hayner says, "You'll get hurt." stopping roxas before the empty track was SO unnerving.

KH2 was actually my introduction to the series, which you would think would make it impossible to follow. But surprisingly, because of how strange Roxas’ prologue is, I felt just as confused as everyone else. It’s a really interesting way to start the game.

But then people will say you HAVE to play 358/2 days before this as if your not supposed to play kh2 after kh1, just ignoring that 358/2 come out after kh2 in order to fill in gaps of info. But you are intended to be confused at the start of kh2 you just like Roxas don’t fully understand what’s happening and it makes lil mysteries and odd things stick out like doing the wonders of twilight town and slowly learning something is definitely not right about the town.
