This reminds me a lot of a book I’ve recently read called I who have never known men by Jacqueline Harpman. I would say it was purely embracing existentialism. My only thought when I finished it was “what was the point?” But it was beautiful nonetheless. I recommend it a lot!

listen…i’m big on all the “isms”. but life can’t truly be meaningless. meaninglessness wouldn’t ask itself “am i meaningless?” meaninglessness would just be meaningless. If existence were truly, fundamentally, empty of meaning, then there would be no capacity within existence to even reflect on that emptiness. The very fact that consciousness can question itself suggests something more is going on.

It wasn’t until I deconstructed from Christianity and started adopting these thoughts, was I truly free. I have never felt more free and non anxiety filled till I thought “life has no meaning, nothing matters!” It truly made me the best version of myself, an the happiest version of myself. Afterlife anxiety is also gone.

So I just started reading Nietzsche, and didn‘t he quite strongly critique making your own values? E.g. “slave morality“ was fabricated as a response to what I understood he considered the pure and more true morality of the noble? Doesn‘t that state that there is true meaning and creating your own is not ultimately true?
