I've given bad reports on the prehospital side. I've also recieved bad reports and saw the negative impact it can have on the continuation of care. A level one pedestrian struck which ended up with the pedestrian breaking through the windshield and landing in the backseat of the car requiring extrication was presented as "30mph MVC" "leg pain" with no trauma activation. stable vitals GCS15. I took the report and asked soooo many questions before finally giving up and notifying the charge. my spidy senses were tingling and I tried arguing that we should level 1 trauma activate it but they wouldn't do that based off of my feelings alone. understandable honestly. but then they wheeled in an unconscious guy in critical condition. The ER was scrambling. So yes, we do need to give eachother grace but as prehospital providers we also need to stop dismissing the importance of a good radio report.

There’s only one ER I will work in, in my entire district. The nurses, doctors, PA’s and NP’s are AWESOME. They love us. Just the other day they had a hard stick patient in the ER and we had just dropped off a patient. They asked us for our help and we got it for them. The respect they have for us is outstanding. I love transporting to that ER. The best people ever! I can’t say that about every other ER. I wish any nurse that works in the ER were required to spend like 100 hours or so a quarter out in the field with us to see what it’s like because not all of them understand.
