must not be any new construction because by code you have to caulk sewer flies can get past a wax ring where water can't unless they changed that code ? we have been failed before because the toilets were not caulked .I didn't say I liked it never agreed with it hated caulking

The reason you shouldn’t caulk is if the wax rings fails you’ll know. Second reason. A toilet sweats and that air gap will allow air to flow under the toilet to prevent mold and mildew

I have always used putty around the bolts and have always clocked around the toilet after setting it never had any issues
