These layoffs were designed to get people to accept $36-50K salaries for roles that should be $70K minimum

I was making $70k. Was laid off 2.5 months after being hired. They then reposted the job for 50-60k. Mind you they still want someone with 2-3 years of experience

The gaslighting is ridiculous. They definitely do this to women more too because we tend to accept less. Don't be afraid to be bold and ask for MORE than you want. Make them explain why they deserve YOU - you're more than worth it!

I make $4 less per hour than I did in 2023, but have two more years of experience - and they got rid of the bonus structure, too.

Meanwhile the cost of living has risen so you’d actually be valid to ask for more for that reason as well, on top of the hours and extra roles. I like to walk in to negotiations with the numbers and call bluffs if needed.

They don’t want to have to pay 3 people, so they hire one is crazy! one job I saw last year wanted 10 yrs experience with TT which had only been around 9 years. Something tells me the people writing the job descriptions don’t have any idea what the job actually entails

Let’s talk numbers literally though. As a senior strategist in healthcare marketing I make 120s in Chicago. I have ten years of experience.

Part of the issue is no one is comfortable openly saying the number they make or want to make it’s so hush hush even in this video

My job that just terminated my position was able to give me a good salary and every other place more established with more years under their belt is telling me 10k less than that.

The job market is so unbelievably terrible for anyone with actual work experience, I cannot even wrap my head around it. To see the job descriptions essentially encapsulate at least 3 roles (that need years of experience), then realize what they’re offering for salary is abhorrent. I’m not a pessimistic person, but I genuinely do not see a light at the end of the tunnel.

Ya all complaining about job markets, ya didn’t really experience the great recession back in 2008 to 2009. IT WAS THE WORST!

My Tia was laid off for like almost 2 years. Luckily her company gave her severance but she had a lot of experience and could not find a job, until her previous employer hired her back. It’s literally insane!! Same for my husband, last year it took almost a full year to find him his current position. I got laid off in October and still looking for a job!! The job market literally is terrible!

My question is what’s wrong with your management if you’re not getting your work done in 40 hours and requiring 50-60.

Agree. Job market has been near nonexistent for a while now. I was making $40/hr plus semi annual bonuses & now companies want to pay $16-$25 & thinking these rates are amazing! When I let the know my pay back in June of 2020 was over $80k they’re flabbergasted. 6 years later, there’s no reason people should be making $16-25/ in finance wearing several hats! They take complete advantage of those w/the experience &/or degrees , add that they will include a little OT to this amazing $16/hr contracts job, all while acting like we should be grateful for such an offer as they have several other candidates in mind. Nope! I have one employer who lied about the pay & location but wants to pay $16-25/hr & to drive 1 hour without any traffic on tollroads! They need to get it together & pay valued employees what they’re worth.
