@flyinmiata: A 'cold air' intake—aka, a filter on a stick—can actually suck in hot air, reducing power. Make sure your dyno tests match real-world driving! Cold air intake come stock on every vehicle. The stock is better then an aftermarket.

When I installed mine, I got so much torque, the chassis twisted off the line! Barely kept it on the track.

Who cares for 99% of people we just install it for the increased engine noise

I know its dumb but it makes my supercharger louder so I think its worth it.

"Hot air has less oxygen" is just plain wrong. The air has exactly the same amount of oxygen BY VOLUME, you're getting less because of the reduction in density breathed. If you're gonna talk engineering, at least be accurate.

I have an actual cold air intake from HKS strait from Japan. It uses an air scoop that goes from the closed air box into the front of the grill. It also uses reflective heat shielding around the box to prevent engine heat making the box hot in any way.

It is false that hotter air just has less oxygen. Per unit volume it contains the same amount (21%) it is just not as dense. This means that if I had two 1L bottles full of air, one at 120°F and the other at 105°F, the bottle at 105°F would contain MORE oxygen molecules, but they exist in the SAME proportion as the 120°F bottle. You are not looking for oxygen, you are looking for density. A true CAI will either be placed in a higher pressure (higher air density) zone or in an enclosure that seeks to isolate the airflow such that a loss of density resulting from heat soak does not occur. The video states this, but I had to point out the error in the oxygen statement because it is a fundamental concept!

did the dyno also have 100+mph going through the grill? no? then it's not a good benchmark either.

A clarifying point is that hot air does not have less oxygen only. Hot air is less dense so it has less of everything by volume.

What you really need is a relocated cold air intake. Mine went stock from behind the headlight to down all the way behind the fog light
