Data centers are also a ton of moving parts and maintenance. You can't just launch them and hope nothing breaks. It's unfeasible with our current technology right now

And now I am thinking of the need for a space station for the workers who will put this thing together 😂 only a dedicated nation state can pull it off but then why? Been studying this for 7 years as an edge compute SME. While solar is 6x more effective in space, I can’t get over the power budget math. A single 2U Dell server is a 1000 watt device, now rack 100 of them. Sure custom form factor hardware with lower SWAP-C will be used, but there’s no room-sized UPS or diesel generators for a space-based data center.

It’s really terrible idea, how are they going to maintain or upgrade when next gen chips come out, and given it’s large footprint a single space debris can it wipe out , possibly causing more debris to hit other data centers nearby
