Specifically it’s that she has expensive lavender soap but doesn’t want Sam to use it, so she buys him a cheap soap to use instead. When he dies and she is crying over him, she smells the cheap soap on him. Later, when she gets with Rowan, she doesn’t keep the lavender soap to herself. Because was selfish with Sam when she didn’t let him use it.

Ahhhh. I’ve had that huge realisation I have like… a billion things that fit into this category. I joke I’m a hoarder, seriously say I’m sentimental… but I’ve just realised all I’ve really been doing is delaying joy, and so… no more! when I got gifts at Christmas/birthday etc I always kept whatever it was for a special occasion... vouchers/candles/soap/skincare etc.... came the the realisation that actually the perfect time will never be there and I just want to enjoy things as they come to me, plus tomorrow isn't promised...

Just learned about this and I feel somewhat good about letting my husband buy the expensive grill, have the big Weddng, buy the dodger tickets. I do it to avoid the argument, trusting he’s planned the finances even if it stressful for a minute. We’ve had great experiences and money comes and goes. Use the fancy soap

Yes!! I used my pretty china and vintage flatware every single day! It was normal for my kids. All the best things get used & enjoyed not put away & basically forgotten.
