1. I haven’t seen any confirmation that the person was even on HRT. 2. The biggest issues with this particular case - the laws need to be changed to make the return of seized firearms more difficult, and the accessibility to firearms in the first place. Whoever owned these firearms and decided it was a good idea to petition the court for their return, and to continue keeping firearms in a household with someone with serious mental health issues, is a huge part of the blame here. Why anyone would think that’s a good idea is beyond me.

This 18 year old, I believe may have been evaluated many times, but I think no mental health professionals ever followed up on him. He was 12 when he started to transition. I think kids should be of legal age before they can start to transition. They say are brain doesn't mature til we were 25. The bottom line is Jesse was severely mentally ill and the Rcmp should never have given those weapons back. The police knew how mentally ill he was and no one should have appealed to get those weapons back. I heard it was the mother who got the weapons back. I know a few people who had issues and weapons were banned from being in their homes. Jesse began transitioning at 12 and quit school at 14 and then at 18 did this horrific crime. What was Jesse doing for the past 6 years. The police need to give us an honest answer as to why they would give the weapons back in a home with an unstable person. Why!!!!!

Hmmmmm!! I really don’t understand how a mother could petition a court to give the g..s back to the family knowing how serious her son’s mental health was!! The judge that released them has to live with the decision of giving g..s back to this family!!

As I heard they got guns back due to petitioning the courts, so was it police or the courts that are responsible for the guns being in the home?

Gonna redirect you on the firearms. Evidence is that legally owned firearms WERE removed and returned. Evidence is that weapons USED IN THE CRIME were NOT those weapons. The weapons USED were illegally acquired weapons.

Everyone’s so focused on the fact they were trans. Please WAKE UP AND tell me where you keep numerous clips or spare ammo in a dress to afflict pain on 35 people on a gun which has the capacity of 5 rounds IN A SPAN OF TWO MINUTES. More news needs to be on the victims and the REAL EVIDENCE not the assailants sexual pronouns. Wake up Canada.

My questions. First a child who drops out of school at age 14, where was Social Services? Second, how long did the shooter have mental health issues? Where was Social Services and the medical community? Why would a parent petition the return of guns when there was someone in the house with mental health issues?
