The Answer is Raid 1 - however it isnt backup --> its a method of drive mirror. In the event the primary drive dies data has been duplicated to 2nd drive.

RAID is weird, probably because it didnt come from a real standard but a paper originally. "Redundant Array of inexpensive drives" would suggest that mirroring would be essential for RAID to fulfill the "Redundant" part. Instead RAID includes stripping, parity, mirroring in different manners. Even more confused by the fact that parity doesnt include error correction just error detection, but isnt always used by its correct meaning.
