@jonstertruck: #History #teacher #learnontiktok #story #halftimeshow Bad Bunny and the American Half Time show is the same argument we've been having forever.
Off topic, but I've been trying to figure out if TPUSA is a "Christian" organization. Why weren't there actual Christian artists performing the show instead of what they used?

I didn't understand a single word of it and didn't need to. I could feel the emotion in his music and my 18 month old son was dancing same as if it would've been in English. While I know Jay-Z and his company is largely in charge of selecting halftime performers, my wife is convinced Bad Bunny was pushed into the role by the right behind closed doors to continue to divide the people and give more justification to hate Hispanic people.

It shouldn’t be a melting pot but a salad. We’re different but together we are awesome without sacrificing our culture

That's how they are treating college now. No one is indoctrinated, they are just exposed to different people, different ideas. Ps, I prefer Canada's mosaic vs our melting pot. The melting pot view requires assimilation. The mosaic view allows people to keep their cultural traditions.

Henry Ford was one of those keep America white people and if you look into him it’s kinda weird- yes Greenfield village and museum are cool but he had a big collection of fiddles to promote square dancing and a massive collection of McGuffey readers- he also moved up the back seat on the model T to prevent people from doing ‘things’ back there

when i was in college i worked for sears in their parts department. part of my job was to train new hires. every now then we would get someone in their 60s looking for part-time work. we used basic computers. some quickly realized this job wasn't for them. they felt left behind due to technology. only they were left vehind because they didn't want to learn new things. some just wanted the shows from 20 30 years ago. they feel left behind because the refuse to accept music of today. not all of it is bad music.

I could make an argument that this culture war can also be used to explain the cultural devide between the South, predominantly white with a large slave owning class and a larger population of slaves not seen as deserving of human rights, and the union an also predominantly white but filled with immigrants and new ideas and with some semblance of freedom despite still harsh/racist policies. Do you want America to be a culture of settlers industry and freedom* or do you want America to be a culture of supremacy dominance and - especially so - Christian values. This isn’t a well thought out take but just my thought

their argument particularly falls apart with kid Rock. kid Rock himself might be conservative his music is very much not. for them it's literally all show

So this is EXACTLY why I’ve been blasting Ska music ever since, because it’s a symbol of how the melding of cultures, ethnicity, and genres can make something RAD and has been since forever.

My degrees are in music, history, theory, and performance, so I feel qualified to offer some context on this video - there’s also a big shift after World War I in Eastern Europe, when the czar no longer controlled, through the orthodox religion, what type of music could be composed, and there’s a explosion of what is known as chromaticism within western music composers who live in eastern Europe. This ultimately tracks back to the US where jazz is taking center stage.
