identifying logical fallacies is just as important as verifying information. i can verify that a statistic exists, but i still need to apply logic to interpret the meaning of the statistic. logical fallacies lead to poor interpretation

I agree. I also think we’re a bit more skeptical or mistrusting of other people because we are more isolated. We don’t live near our families. We don’t have that sense of safety always present in our body.

this is why I love Emerson’s writings so much!! He believed the purpose of the individuality in western culture was to become a stronger, more well rounded collective & that reflection on one’s self and past was critical to self actualization. He also read his essays aloud to groups of young working class men who lacked a formal education, but he never condescended to them by dumbing down his ideas

as a person with adhd it makes me haaate conflict and conflict avoidant cause my hypersensitivity forces me to self reflect and evaluate the situation and understand whats upsetting me vs what happened vs what i think their POV is and try to articulate what made me upset in the least accusatory way and i still get met with hostility
