everything you said is science based. progressive overload, volume management and intensity is literally science based.

science based lifting is just more effective and safer but you can also gain muscle by just training with your ego

Lift heavy. Train hard. Do the basics right. Grow in the gym💪🏼 To many influencers involved now. Nail the basics and you won’t go far wrong 👍🏼 Do the basics on an arm curl, grow your bicep. Nail the basics on tricep Pushdown and grow the tricep. Easy!!

Let people train how they want to train. If they want to bring a notebook who cares. They're trying to better themself their own way.

Progressive overload doesn’t build muscle

iqlets and gymcels perceive SBL and traditional lifting as 2 opposites of eachother, whereas SBL or trying to train optimally is literally just an applied form of standard lifting. It just upgrades the already built foundation to optimize muscle growth.

In which world does science based lifting discourage progressive overload?

odysseyathleticdpt :
The principle of SBL is more about doing meaningful research to outline benefits and refining efficient way to do things - yes some aspects have become to pedantic but as time goes on we find better ways to things. Time and place for intensity and volume and so on.

Here’s my observation. It’s because of the social media aspect of our lives nowadays. The overflow of information. The need for people to be “different” online and to “sound smart” in order to encourage others to follow them. Training and nutrition, in essence, is quite simple and boring. Progress over time in the gym, and eat in a consistent surplus = done. Long story short. But people don’t want to do “simple and boring” on their social media. So in comes the overcomplications. Now especially the younger ones these days, their whole life is social media, so they’re more exposed to this nonsense style of training these days. Us older ones, we’re still doing basic presses and rows. Lots of dumbbells and barbells etc. Nothing complicated at all.
