it's a palate cleanser for me. for example two paperbacks I'm physically reading at the moment are Jean Paul Sartre's Nausea and Banana Yoshimotos goodbye tsugumi. both vastly different styles. a light and dark principle. so I'll pair off a darker mentally dense novel with something that's lighter in tone. I normally read around 4 books at a time. that's including audiobooks which makes up a large percentage of how I read.

I’m a mood reader, even with genres. So rn I’m reading a fantasy and The Count of Monte Cristo. (Totally different! But i like that) Since TCoMC is such a big book, I usually stick to one chapter a day or every other day 🥰

I've recently started reading two books at once. I'll read a classic book (in the evening) and a "fun" book (in the morning) at the same time. I find reading the "fun" book helps prevent burnout and actually makes me even more excited to continue reading the classic.
