Yes and that’s how we learned! When you forgot an assignment or put it off too long, you had to use your brain and “bullshit” an essay. But in that bullshitting was real intellectual work, even if it was rushed or half-assed. And that work compounded over time, and you learned how to navigate libraries and databases. You learned the structure of academic texts to quickly find the arguments and evidence you needed. I can’t imagine paying for college and leaving without the skills to do that.
