@jenellewrinkleandwit: You thought you were essential but you were just staff. Retirement stripped my ego #retirementreality #retirementlife #retiredcouples #retirementfun
I’m 9 months into retirement and couldn’t disagree more with this. Found new purpose and fulfillment through volunteer work, hobbies, a casual PT job, I make my own schedule, enjoying my indexed pension, stress is at a minimum, life is grand!

This is why you don't wait until retirement to have a life.

My Gran gave me this warning that you definitely have to have something to do when you retire or you start to go backwards

I'm the opposite, yes don't miss the money, don't miss the travel.
I have hobbies that are lifelong so enjoying them immensely. Never been a people person so don't miss the natter chatter. Love not having to dress up for anything really. Always FIRMLY believed that everyone is replaceable in work so never got caught up in WORK IS MY LIFE AND MY IDENTITY.
I just want to sit and read books and do what I want to do
that's it 😁🥰

Yup. You need to retire TOO something, not from something. Find something that gives you a purpose.

I hated it. After 7 years I went back to full-time work some 6 years ago. And I love my job and my life.

I’m newly retired and am enjoying not being “needed” for the first time in 40 years. Knowing I can do whatever I want when I want is priceless💗

It’s the stress I don’t miss…not one bit. I’m happy to foster hobbies I never took time for, and to try something new. I can pick up and go when I want….and don’t have to get approval from anyone!

58 and just retired a couple months ago. Still euphoria. Moving to a different country and walking the beach every morning with my wife of 32 years. It's so exciting and I forgot about work already.

the best is to never ‘need’ your job and live life to the fullest

69, retired and working full-time. My motto is retirement doesn't mean you don't work, it means you don't HAVE to work. And that is the true freedom of retirement.

i think about when its my time to retire. i am that important person you talk about. am worried, single, no children, am worried of the lonely days, not talking to anyone, the isolation. truth is once you retire how much travelling can i do.

I didn’t like the personality I had when I worked. It was never enough. Now I stay up as late as I want and still get 8 hours sleep. My hobbies are more relaxing because I’m not fitting them in the few hours I had free.
