Spanish class is Spanish from Spain. The language has been modified a ton in all different countries.

I had to take 4 Spanish classes in college. I had one professor from Puerto Rico for Spanish 1, Mexico for Spanish 2, and Spain for Spanish 3. Ended up taking a French class to round out the fourth. 😅
