@cathymadeoyoga: Straight legs in forward fold don’t automatically mean more flexibility! When the legs straighten and the hamstrings are tight, the pelvis tucks under and the hamstrings actually lose their ability to lengthen at their attachment on the pelvis. Forward fold is a hip hinge. Bending the knees allows the pelvis to tilt forward so the hamstrings can lengthen under load instead of being pulled slack. If your chest can move toward your thighs, the hamstrings are doing what they’re designed to do.
