That man did literally the stupidest thing one could ever do: belittle her for expecting the bare minimum. We don’t really celebrate valentines either, mostly cause it’s just not that important, still when my husband asked me about it and I told him that just a little act of appreciation would be enough, he surprised me with sth I’ve just mentioned in passing once ages ago. It doesn’t have to be big or expensive to count as appreciating your partner

If she’s artistic and quirky this should be so easy. Make a funny card, write something cute in it, buy cheap colorful flowers, take her to a nice restaurant that’s not too expensive but has fun food and cocktails.

my bf got laid off so right now money is super tight. he made me a homemade paper box that pops open asking me to be his Valentine and is cooking me a steak dinner. we're also watching the twilight series. it's doesn't have to be materialistic, just thoughtful.

My birthday was this week. Our tradition is to go out on the 15th-16th and find the best clearance sales. When heart shaped pizzas happened, that became another tradition. It doesn’t have to be fancy, just acknowledged. ❤️💜

she asked to do something on valentines and immediately he assumes she wants the priciest night. i had an ex that whenever i even looked at something or just commented on somethjng like "oh thays neat" hed get mad like i was guilt tripping him into buying it. it was many an argument we had and i started to refuse to go anywhere with him.

even as a broke student girl, I give flowers and chocolates to loved ones. friends, family, not only boyfriend. not expensive ones, but this is the thought that count. I like to show people I love (not necessarily romantically) that I care for them.

my bf also doesn't celebrate valentine's, but I asked him if we wanted to go an a little date or smth that day and he told me he'd handle it. now he's cooking me a homemade dinner and we're watching a movie at home. it's simple and sweet, nothing too fancy but he made an effort to do smth nice for me. a little gesture goes a long way if you love someone ❤️

I volunteer at my local zoo (it’s only small, and tickets are like £10 each), but we had so many couples in on Valentine’s Day this year, just spending some quality time together and doing something fun.

ive been with my hubby for 34yrs and ive never been bothered about valentines day. yes its nice if he gets me something and vice versa but tbf its the random days he comes home with a big bar of chocolate for me or like a few yrs ago I called at the shop for bread on my way home from work and thought awww ill get hubby his favourite cake (carrot cake) for after dinner. when I got home he had also popped to the shop on his way home and he had bought my favourite cake (purple velvet cake) lol
