I was told by a surgeon that he was going to insert a coil when I had my surgery, I told him no, I’ve being doing hormones for 15 years I’m not doing it anymore… I had to threaten to sue the hospital and surgeon before he backed down… its appalling 😩

A few years ago ago I was having some investigative tests and the gynaecologist told me I should really have a coil which I refused and had refused from several other medical professionals over the couple of years prior, only to find when I went for the hysteroscopy she referred me for, she’d put on my notes that I wanted the coil and they planned to fit it during that appointment. The only reason I found out and stopped it was because I asked how the procedure worked and the clinician told me just casually at the end. I went ballistic.

they love forcing things on us without our consent I vehemently denied the marina, never signed anything but they added it to my surgery itinerary and if I wasn't still awake when they were discussing it I would've had it placed without consent!

This is why I tell the patient every pill as I scan it. And then every pill as I put it in the cup. And I explain what each pill is for as I put it in the cup. And if a patient doesn't want something, I don't try to force it. I document what they didn't take and why. And if it's something like this I call the doc and make a specific note with quotes by the PT and the doc so it's very clear what is going on.

It’s not the Nurses fault though, please never shout at the Nurse in this situation, they just have the list of meds prescribed they don’t know your conversations and choices. It’s also probably the first time they’ve met you as they’ve just started their shift and it’s medication time.

So when I was in hospital a nurse added senna in my night tablets. I asked the doctor if I had to take it and he said no, so the next night I told the nurse I won't be taking it

I came out of hospital yesterday and I had told them many times that I take my amitriptyline at night because it makes me sleep, every nurse was giving it to me at night so yesterday morning the nurse hid it at the bottom of the paper cup of meds (I’m taking at least 25 tablets right now) so I just took them without even knowing they were in there as the nurse had told me every other medication and it was too early so I didn’t even think to check and I spent the entire day asleep and the doctors thought I was getting worse (my infection markers are dangerously high) when really I was just d***ged so the doctor agreed for me to go home because it was actually more dangerous for me to be in there and my markers had started to come down

nurses and midwives can be just as bad. I had one giving me nsaids after my C-section when I can't take them. the anaesthetist came to see me the next day and I could see he was so angry but was keeping it professional in front of me. it wasn't mentioned again after that.

I had the coil forced onto me, was told it was the only treatment for endometriosis and had a doctor and two nurses egging me on to get it in, whilst i was having biopsies done, i was crying because of the pain and said "anything to get this to stop" and i left with the coil inserted in me. A week later i had it removed after i fought with my gp. ( i was young and hadnt done enough of my own research i have now and had a lap back in the summer for my endo )

This is terrible! In my hospital stays I was often brought medication with no explanation of what it was. It never sat right with me and I always had to ask what they were giving me!

I went into hospital with bleeding after a day procedure. Nurse came round with a pill cup. I said what's this? Oh it's an anticoagulant. I said, I came in with a bleed, I am not taking that!

When I was in hospital after my emergency c-section, I told the nurses I did not want to take Co-codomol as it would cause me more issues than help. Every single time I had to check what I was being given because every single time it was included with my medication. I was in 4 days so that was multiple times I was ignored 🙄

I’ve been waiting for years to have a cyst removed from my ovary. It was 2cm before my csection. Last time they measured a year after my csection it was 7cm and they said it’s growing rapidly and could twist or rupture my ovary at any moment. That was nearly three years ago now. I keep contacting my gp to see what’s happening. It seems they’ve forgotten me so I just have to live with a time bomb on my ovary that is causing me to bleed so much each month that I almost pass out. They won’t do anything to help in the meantime. I just have to suffer

Where did you get the information that Dienogest causes functional cysts? That's not a documented side effect anywhere I've looked.

I was 22 grade 4 endometriosis at this point it wasn’t spoken of at all (I’m now 33) they mentioned the early menopausal injection I said I wasn’t sure as I would like to know all the options as i was only 22.. 2 hours later a nurse came over

I suffer from endometriosis and obviously the main treatment is the coil or like get pregnant. I am beyond fortunate that I have not only a gyno consultant but also an endo nurse specialist they heard me and we found an alternative option
