@mwakanational: Franco Luambo Makiadi, often called Franco, was one of the greatest figures in Congolese and African music. He was born on July 6, 1938, in Sona Bata (DRC). He showed exceptional guitar talent at a very young age and entered professional music as a teenager, quickly gaining attention for his unique playing style and technical mastery. In 1956, he co-founded the band OK Jazz (later known as TPOK Jazz), which became one of the most influential orchestras in African music history. Franco stood out as a lead guitarist, composer, and bandleader. His songs often addressed daily life, social issues, love, and moral themes, with deep and sometimes bold lyrics. Nicknamed the “Grand Maître,” he produced hundreds of successful songs and helped launch many major Congolese artists. He passed away on October 12, 1989, in Brussels. His musical legacy remains central to Congolese rumba.#rdcongo🇨🇩 #tiktok #fyp #foryou #kinshasa🇨🇩
