@georgiefrostmoney: Amazon is rolling out “Pay by Bank” in the UK - cheaper for them with no bank fees, no difference in price for you but it might cost you elsewhere... It's described as quick and convenient (though debatable in my experience) but importantly you DON'T get MASSIVE consumer protections, including Section 75 protection, like you would with a credit card. For bigger purchases, especially, that protection matters. Convenience or cover...which would you choose? #amazonuk #consumerrights #moneymatters #fyp #PersonalFinance
they're probably doing this to avoid the visa or MasterCard fees, I'd still pay with my card

If they want people to use Pay By Bank then they should pass on the savings to the customer.

Advantage is all for amazon to skip protection laws. Always pay by credit card and if you don't have a credit card pay using PayPal with a debt card attached and use PayPal protection 👌 debit cards also have protection but can be harder to get money back

lol how is pay by card more protective by pay by bank? Your card detail is literally saved on the account. If anything is ever hacked, your card can be charged automatically. With the bank transfer, you have to verify. I think it’s a better and easier option especially if multiple users use the account

Pay by bank is cheaper for merchants, xero reduces our fees for pay by bank, however we still offer both

Amazon are only introducing this because it benefits them, not the consumer.

Presumably like some other apps it pulls up your main banking app and transfers from your current account. Nope I will stick with a credit card for s75 protection. Unless of course it benefits me. 😁
