Exactly. If someone insists that the middle class exists, I'd call them people who don't have to work and survive solely on accumulated capital, but who don't have the same influence on the world around them as the upper class. Can't you survive without a job? You're working class, mate.

imo, culturally/socially these class categories exist. but in terms of economics, there is only the capitalist (owners of capital), and the labourer.

I hate to tell you this but the barista and neurosurgeon are also 1-3 pay checks from being homeless too. When you account for the debt the surgeon incurred to finish undergrad, med school, internship and then residency
