@teamtucker23: simple childhood viruses is causing my son to fight to be healthy and keep his 3 month old kidney happy. despite the precautions, the sanitizing and the cautious living Tucker still got 2 common childhood viruses. one is BK virus and the other is EBV. Here's the difference, one can cause kidney failure and the other can cause cancer for immunosuppressed kids and adults. 5 days he spent in the hospital to get iv infusions and urgent surgery to remove his tonsils because the EBV virus attacked them causing his throat to swell almost shut. These viruses are strong and didnt respond to the medication. his numbers went up big time this week showing its more and more active. what does this mean? He was on 2 immunosuppression medications and a steroid. one was removed, the other was adjusted down and may need to be replaced with a weaker one and the steroid? May have to be taken away also so his body can fight them off. what's the risk of making the adjustments? losing his kidney. what's the risk of not? Kidney failure and cancer. how did he get it? theres no pinpoint answer. He could have gotten it from the hospital, the doctor appointments, someone coughing or not feeling well, or from someone who simply carries it but showed no signs.
