@drtoddphillips: Former megachurch pastor reflecting on certainty, doubt, and what it meant to follow the questions wherever they led. An honest introduction to my journey out of certainty and into a more thoughtful way of living with uncertainty.#Deconstruction #faithjourney #leavingchristianity #agnostic #spirituality
I am more “Christian” now, after I deconstructed. The values I have I own without promise or threat. Liberating.

I can relate. For me, deconstruction meant separating Jesus from denomination (former Catholic) and tradition. I walked away from legalism, not the Gospel and my faith is stronger, quieter, and more rooted than ever. God bless you pastor and your new found journey 🙏🏽

Interesting thought... how many people trusted your message wholeheartedly because of your passion, which is probably human nature. The greater lesson though is that just because someone is passionate shouldn't be an indicator to trust them. It might be their truth for that time, but doesn't mean it's the ultimate truth.

This reminds me of Orpah and Ruth. Orpah returned to her people and Ruth followed Naomi. The Israelites also wanted to return to Egypt. You returned to your people. 😊 We will follow Naomi like Ruth did. Jesus is Lord 🙌

You wouldn’t know me but you were the teaching pastor at the church I was on staff at. I too am on this journey. It started in 2016ish. It led me to leave in 2018. It’s wild but I’m tracking with you. Thanks for being bold. It’s a sensitive topic for some families.

Ever since I left the faith, I have become more compassionate, more accepting, happier and more appreciative of this life I have. We really don’t know what’s after this.

Hey Todd – I remember you from when I was a Protestant pastor. Went through a similar deconstruction but I kept reading and studying and praying – it led me to the Catholic Church. If you ever wanna chat, our stories are probably very similar
