@hustlebitch: 🚨 RESTAURANTS ARE QUIETLY ADDING “NON-TIPPER FEES” TO BILLS - HOPING YOU WON’T NOTICE Look closely at this receipt. Before any extra charges, the bill was $55.77. Then the restaurant added a line item labeled “Non-Tipper Fee.” Not a suggested tip. Not gratuity. A penalty for not tipping. That single charge pushed the subtotal to $66.93. After tax, the total comes out to $73.62. The customer noticed and was clearly upset. So they deducted that exact amount from the tip section. In other words: the restaurant tried to force the tip and the customer clawed it right back. No sign on the door. No warning from the server. No explanation on the receipt. Just a quiet charge, betting most people won’t notice, won’t question it, or won’t want to argue. So tipping isn’t voluntary at certain places anymore. It’s enforced through surprise fees and social pressure. If restaurants need higher prices, why not just raise them? Or is this the easier way - charge it quietly and dare customers to speak up?
you can call your bank or your credit card and get a it back if they didn’t disclose this to you beforehand.

They should just start adding gratuity to all tickets and if you don’t agree, don’t eat there.

I have to say something on tipping. These servers are making 800 to probably two 300 a night in restaurants. They’re making more money in the restaurant industry than people out here working in a 9 to 5. 😳😳😳

We need to start carrying cash that way they cannot force us to pay that. No way am I paying a non tipper fee or a new one I saw "chef cooking fee". if I go to a restaurant I pay for food. if the service was great then I give a tip

I don’t mind tipping but this expectation that service can be horrible and somehow you still get a tip is wild

So, even in getting octopus and oysters, I think, you know, a strawberry margarita would complement this perfectly. Should have had a fee for that alone.

Yeah maybe so, but they are writing on the customer copy, the receipt says it on it. So I’d assume they paid it.
