No matter if you are in the Appalachian mountains or not, ALWAYS lock your doors and possibly windows too. You lose nothing locking them.

Many years ago myself and two friends spent many days hiking and camping all over the Appalation mountains, in various States too...Never seen or heard anything unusual.
