Monthly Financial Check-Up Every month, we sit down and talk about our finances. How much have we saved? What’s our current balance? Are we on track? It doesn’t have to be formal — sometimes it’s just an Excel sheet or an honest conversation. What matters is we communicate. Transparency is non-negotiable. 2. No Big Purchases Without Savings Before buying expensive gadgets or anything major, there has to be money set aside for it. No impulse buying. No “I deserve this” without preparation. If we want something, we save for it first. That’s accountability. 3. Savings & Investments First As a couple, we have a joint account in Tonik where we deposit a fixed amount every month. That’s our future fund as a couple. On top of that, every month, we look for ways to invest. I also encourage him to invest — not just to grow his money, but to discipline his budgeting and thinking long-term. We’re building for retirement. We don’t want our future kids to carry that responsibility for us. We want to be able to stand on our own when that time comes. 4. Planned Travel & Celebrations Trips, anniversaries, Valentine’s — these are expected expenses. So we plan for them. We make sure there’s a fund allocated. Experiences matter to us, but so does being financially prepared. 5. We Always Meet Halfway We don’t always have the same perspective about money — and that’s okay. What’s important is we meet halfway. It has to make sense to him and to me. Decisions are mutual. The growth is mutual. Because financial freedom as a couple isn’t about luck.
