The part that really struck me was when he asked if she would consider shorter races and she said that would not make her happy because running is the thing that makes her happy. My thoughts were so nothing else in your life makes you happy? Not your partner? Not your children? Nothing else fulfills you? She needs serious therapy something is wrong. She seems incapable of relaxing or turning herself off of go mode. As someone else said it is gonna end up hurting her or debilitating her later on.

I have seen this happen with tennis, golf, running, yoga, etc. Spouse gets obsessed with the hobby and forgets about their family. It’s absolutely an addiction and extremely selfish.
