It contains sodium hydroxide in the middle of the ingredient list, that is probably the main reason for scalp irritation, change in curl pattern, texture, or condition. Most likely the sodium hydroxide is used for more than just a physical adjuster or preservativesl, but more for smoothing, that could be permanent also it's not bring neutralized out.
